Sobre este modelo
Overview A simple Knurled Knob that can be optionally weight with a medium of your choosing.
Designed for the Thrustmaster Custom Shifter Knob contest - hit that like and follow to help me out. Printed Parts Knurled Knob Comes in either a solid version for using as-is and a cavity version for adding weight internally. Both are best printed with the threaded end down on the baseplate. Update v1.1: A variation of the cavity version has been added for cap-only printing. Cavity Filler The cavity filler comes in a few versions, however there's largely two kinds (each with their own vase-mode version). The two kinds are 1) no cap and 2) with cap - essentially the cap version is 1mm shorter to allow for the 1mm cap to be placed on top of the cavity filler. The cavity filler was designed initially for air-dry clay and other solid filling materials that won't shift when turned upside down. Why upside down? This allows for the printed base to act as a bridge for the top layer, essentially the same function as the cap; it's not so much a cap as it is a scaffold/support structure for the above layers. Cavity Filler Filling Up to you. I recommend air-dry clay and I know others prefer things like tiny ball-bearings to add weight to their prints. I've also seen things like sand/plaster being used or even just crudely filled m4/m3 nuts leftover from screw packs after using heat-inserts instead. Printing For specific settings; I'd lean towards smaller layer height 0.08/0.16 for the knurling detail and increase wall count to at least 4 and infill set to locked-zag. You're wanting a fairly strong part at the end of the day given this could be thrashed about.
...and don't forget to add a pause for the cavity filler to be dropped in! Changelog - v1.1 - Added a cap-only version for direct pour-in cavity filling mid-print. Pause-Pour-Place(cap)-PResume Printing
