Sobre este modelo

Since so many of my friends are into the popular Mexican Train Domino game, I decided I'd like to have a relatively easy method for creating custom double 12 domino sets with themes that appeal to friends and family. This model includes only the tiles with numbers. Any actual style sets for dressing these tiles up will be posted individually acdording to their theme. The first stylized set I made from these tiles is a Detroit Lions themed set, and I'll be posting that momentarily. The second set I'm preparing to build is an Oklahoma University set, so you can expect that style set to be published soon. When I published the previous iteration of this set, I was only concerned with having a fully printable double 12 set that would print easily with zero post processing on my Flashforge Creator 5. Soon after, I decided I'd like an easy way for customizing a set. I first remodeled a tile with both multicolored faces integrated. While my first test tiles printed fully without requiring additional post processing, I wasn't at all pleased with the look and feel of whichever face printed face up. Since the bottom faces that printed directly on the textured PEI build plate turned out fantastic, I decided I'd like for both top and bottoms of the tiles to have the same stellar look and feel, so I added a recessed opening in the tiles for gluing a logo face that could also be printed face down on a PEI build plate. While this method adds extra labor for creating a tile set, the end result is IMO fantastic, so this is the process I've landed on. If you have a tool changing machine or an AMS/MMU type setup and simply want to print a decent set without any gluing, but with blank back faces, consider the set from which this set is derived:

If you don't have a machine capable of printing multiple colors in the same model, would like to print an entire double 12 set and aren't afraid of spending many hours gluing multiple pieces together for each individual tile, my original multi part printable set is available below:

I've included with the set a blank top face for those who want to make their own custom themed sets from this model "Domino_Blank_Logo_Face". The first themed set I'll be making, that is currently printing now is a Detroit Lions themed set. As there are so many individual models associated with this design for manufacturing individual replacement tiles, I'll be posting any themes I make for this set separately, but will try to remember to link them here as well. I plated the parts of this set so they will fit a build plate measuring 220mm X 220mm, which most FDM printers are capable of handling, but I've included all the individual models as well for printing a single replacement tile. I relocated a corner tile from the first two plates to the third plate to allow for a prime tower on machines with smaller sized build plates. I print these sets as oriented in the STL files, face down. After combining the tiles and faces to be printed in my slicer, I print them with 100% infill. I recommend PETG or PLA for these sets and with 100% infill to give the tiles a nice weight. One could use sparse infill to save on material, but I printed a single test tile using 15%, and while the piece looked fantastic, it felt like it had no weight to it. 100% infill gives these a good solid feel. I buy my PETG in bulk for less than $8 per 1kg spool and with 100% infill, the entire set will use approximately 1.2kg of material. Each of the trays prints for me in about 9 hours, so yeah, it's over a day to print the set solid, but IMO, it's worth the wait. For my first set, I used blue PETG for the tiles and white PETG for the faces. The numbers and dividers on the faces are 1mm tall so any solid color for the faces should show nicely. I would avoid translucent colors for the faces unless you print your tiles in white. Translucent filaments, even 1mm thick may not show well against a black background. Once my tile set is finished printing, I'll print the Lions logo faces and glue them into the openings on the tiles opposite their number faces. While I've included the components for creating all the individual tiles of a 91 piece double 12 set, I STRONGLY recommend printing the three pre-plated domino groups. Doing so will significantly reduce purge waste. The individual tiles are all here in case a single tile becomes lost or damaged. Rather than reprinting an entire set, simply print the tile you're replacing.
