Sobre este modelo

Welcome to my first published project, The Stompa.

This is a Mega Gryphon that uses a cheap solenoid from Amazon. I decided to move away from using a neutron because it did not have a long enough throw. This solenoid is cheaper and has a longer throw, so there's that. One thing to note is that it uses M4 screws to screw into the covers. Here's a link to it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DPFXMCRQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

This build uses photon wheels from OOD for ease of use, but you can find 3d-printed wheel files and the cage from the original Roc build. With Kraken and Photons on a 3S, it's ~120 fps, which ain't all that bad. I'm waiting for some quickdraw motors to see what will happen on 4S, but I don't expect those to come in until 2029.

One problem with the current build is with the solenoid spring it comes with. The default spring is too weak to retract with a mag in, and the only springs I've found were too strong. My workaround was to double-stack the stock spring and a neutron upgrade spring (ironic, I know). Doing this decreases the max throw length, to where it feeds inconsistently. My fix was to bring the flywheel cage closer to the mag. If you run into this problem, that's what the "stubby front" files are for.

The other hurdle is with the pusher head. Due to mega darts being big boys, the default pusher head wouldn't cut it. In order to make a larger one, I made a 2-part pusher head. Thread the rod onto the solenoid and assemble the pusher mech to the magwell. After that, take the pusher head and screw it into the pusher rod through the megwell. The best way I was able to do this was through the feeding hole into the flywheels.

For the stock, I really like the way the thumbhole stock feels. It makes the whole thing feel solid as hell, but if that's not your jam, you can use any Gryphon stock that is compatible with the solenoid Gryphon.

Some parts use a M3 heat set insert. I'll make a comment if it uses one

All in all, I'm happy with it. It's not perfect, but it's mine.
