Sobre este modelo
A hollow spellbook with a real pin-tumbler lock. Only the printed skull key opens it. Turn the key a quarter turn, lift the cover, and hide your secrets, sweets or Halloween treats inside. Everything is 3D printed: no springs, screws, magnets or glue. FEATURES - Size: 150 x 110 x 49 mm closed
- Hidden compartment: about 134 x 98 x 38 mm, with the lock in one corner
- Real pin-tumbler lock with 3 key pins and 3 driver pins. The pins drop by gravity, so no springs are needed
- Of the 27 possible keys, only the skull key opens it
- The key can only be removed in the locked, upright position, like a real lock
- Fits a 256 mm bed. The biggest parts are the book base and cover (150 x 110 mm each)
- 15 files, 17 printed pieces, already laid out on 2 plates in the 3MF
- The one in the photos is printed in white with black lock parts
PRINT SETTINGS - Every part is already oriented for printing. No supports needed
- Book base and cover: 0.2 mm layers, 3 walls, 15% infill. The base prints on its back cover, the cover prints art side up
- Lock parts, pins, key and hinge pin: 0.12-0.16 mm layers, 100% infill, slow outer walls
- Key pins print standing on their flat top (nose up). Add a small brim if your printer knocks them over
- Turn off elephant foot or use a small compensation (0.1-0.15 mm). The pins have 0.3 mm clearance per side
- Suggested colours: cover dark red, purple or black; base parchment or ivory; escutcheon and crank gold or bronze silk; key bone or glow-in-the-dark; housing and cap black
ASSEMBLY (see the assembly guide image) - Lock housing: drop it into the rectangular pocket on the floor, next to the keyhole wall. The round bore faces the keyhole.
- Lock plug: push it in from OUTSIDE, through the keyhole, into the housing. The small lug on the flange points to the RIGHT as you face the keyhole. The keyway slot is then upright.
- Escutcheon: press it onto the 2 small pegs on the fore-edge, over the plug flange. It holds the plug in.
- Crank: inside the box, slide it onto the plug's back shaft (the D-flat lets it fit only one way). The arm points DOWN, with the crank pin toward the spine. Snap the C-clip into the groove behind it.
- Pins: (a) Insert the key fully. (b) Drop the key pins into the 3 holes on top of the housing, NARROW NOSE DOWN, counted from the keyhole inward: hole 1 = 8.6 mm, hole 2 = 11.6 mm, hole 3 = 10.1 mm. (c) Drop one 7 mm driver pin on top of each, chamfered end down. (d) Press the pin cap on. Its 2 pegs fit into the housing. (e) Pull the key out. The pins drop into the keyway and the lock is locked.
- Latch hook: press its 2 pegs into the 2 slots under the cover, near the lock. The pegs are offset, so it only fits one way.
- Hinge: lay the cover on the base and line up the knuckles. Push the hinge pin in from the bottom edge of the book. The last knuckle is a snug fit and holds the pin in.
HOW TO USE (book lying cover up) - Open: insert the key and turn it a quarter turn counterclockwise (looking at the keyhole). Lift the cover.
- Lock: with the key still turned, close the cover. Turn the key back upright and pull it out.
TROUBLESHOOTING - The plug won't turn with the right key: check the pin order and that the key pins are narrow nose down. Sand any blobs off the pins so they slide freely.
- The cover won't close: turn the key first, then close the cover.
- The lock only opens with the book cover up. Upside down it stays locked until you turn it back over.
