Gears in action—three stages. Why keep it simple when you can make it complicated? Based on DeadSchrodinger’s work and my own tweaks, I added the third stage just to make things harder on myself. The gear wheels are 60x15x15 teeth; there are two versions: 0.30 and 0.35 mm spacing between the wheels. At 0.35, it works very well but moves quite a bit from side to side; at 0.30, it moves less from side to side, but starting up is more difficult. When you peel the gears off the plate, they’re a bit stuck together, but you just need to wiggle them sideways to get them off; then you have to spin them for a while to get them moving smoothly, since the adhesive residue isn’t easy to remove. I really like the 80% version because it fits well in the hand, but since the distances between the wheels are very small, the 0.30 mm version takes longer to get them moving smoothly. Made with DesignSpark and Cura.
