Dungeon Crawl FOUR PRISONERS. ONE WAY OUT. WILL YOU MAKE IT OUT?
The cell door creaks open. Torches flicker down a stone corridor, something skitters in the dark, and in the far corner of the dungeon a spiral staircase winds up to the castle tower. Everyone at the table wants out first, but every prisoner is hiding something: a secret mission they have to finish before the guard will let them through the castle door.
Dungeon Crawl is a competitive escape race for 2 to 4 players. Break out of the jail, choose your route through a walled maze, collect tools and treasure, light the lanterns, and fight your way past your rivals. The first player up the tower stairs with their mission complete wins.
At Ozarkexpeditions, we wanted a dungeon game that looks amazing on the table and is easy to learn in a few minutes. Every route on the board is a real choice. Short paths are fast but packed with traps. Long paths are safer, lit by lanterns, and full of tools. Dead-end side passages hide the relics and map pieces that missions depend on. We ran thousands of simulated races to balance the routes and missions, so no single strategy runs away with the game, and every game plays out a little differently. How It Plays
- Break out: Everyone starts locked in the same jail. Roll a 2, 4, or 6 to step out into the Guard Hall.
- Pick your path: Take the short, risky route, the long, safe route, or something in between. The right tools can turn a dangerous shortcut into a smart play.
- Grab your gear: Ropes, shields, and torches each cancel a specific trap. You can only carry 3 tools, so choose wisely.
- Light the lanterns: Lit lanterns become checkpoints for everyone, so a bad trap won't send you all the way back.
- Unlock shortcuts: Spend a key to open a locked door. Once it's open, it's open for everyone.
- Fight anyone nearby: Challenge a rival on your tile or right next to you. The winner of the dice roll steals a tool, relic, or map piece.
- Reach the castle: Reveal your mission at the castle door and show your proof. First one in wins.
Secret Missions Each player secretly keeps one mission card at the start of the game. There are eight in the deck, including the Duelist, Locksmith, Cartographer, Treasure Hunter, and Lamplighter. Since nobody knows what anyone else is after, watch where your rivals go. A trip down a dead end is a clue, and a reason to follow them.
