Print it once, take it off the bed, and it wiggles. This dragon comes off the printer in one piece: a horned head, 26 linked body segments with back spikes, two pairs of clawed legs and a spade-tipped tail. Every joint prints in place. No supports, no assembly, no glue.

Sobre este modelo

Print it once, take it off the bed, and it wiggles. This dragon comes off the printer in one piece: a horned head, 26 linked body segments with back spikes, two pairs of clawed legs and a spade-tipped tail. Every joint prints in place. No supports, no assembly, no glue.

On the bed it is a compact spiral of 229 x 203 mm. Stretched out it is about 70 cm of dragon, long enough to drape over both arms. What it does - Curls up, snakes across the table, hangs from your hand. - 28 linked parts with hourglass pin joints in closed rings, designed for about ±50 degrees sideways per joint. - Designed with overhangs of 45 degrees or less, and it printed without supports. - Joint clearance in the model: 0.63 mm radial, 0.69 mm vertical, smallest gap 0.45 mm. Printing - Printed on a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.20 mm layers, matte white PLA, textured PEI plate, 2 walls, 15 % grid infill, brim auto, no supports. Slicer estimate 4 h 02 min, 117 g. - Footprint 229.2 x 203.1 mm plus a little room for the brim. Printed on a 256 x 256 mm bed; too large for 180 x 180 mm beds. - The 3MF is the project of that print. Check printer, material and plate settings for your machine. - Printed once at this size. Scaling it down also makes the joint gaps smaller. - Once it has cooled, work each joint gently. If one feels stuck, wiggle it loose instead of forcing it. Safety

Not for children under 3: small parts and pointed spikes. Files - Articulated_Dragon_Print_in_Place.stl (print orientation, 28 linked bodies that print as one chain) - Articulated_Dragon_X1C_PLA.3mf (project with print profile) - Articulated_Dragon_Drawing.pdf (dimensions) License
