Sobre este modelo

If all you needed was a small container to hold your Urchin baits, this design is probably more than necessary. But where's the fun in that? This is a rugged, highly organized, and completely over-engineered storage box designed specifically for Urchin fishing baits. The internal storage system takes advantage of the steel pin insert commonly supplied with many Urchin baits, allowing them to be securely stored, protected, and organized during transport. Features

Secure storage for multiple Urchin baits Internal slots designed for the factory steel inserts included with many Urchin baits Optional printable spacers to keep bait pins aligned and secure during transport Optional divider for creating a separate storage compartment Gasket channel with optional TPU seal for improved water resistance Durable latch and hinge system Customizable lid badge area (I added my name using my slicer's emboss feature, but you can put whatever you'd like there... or leave it blank)

Hardware Required Assembly requires:

6x M3x20mm bolts

No other hardware is required. Printing Instructions Required Parts Print:

1x UrchinBox_Base.stl 1x UrchinBox_Lid.stl 1x UrchinBox_Seal.stl (optional) 2x UrchinBox_Latch.stl

Optional Parts Print as needed:

UrchinBox_Divider.stl UrchinBox_Spacer.stl

Recommended Print Settings These are the settings I used:

Layer Height: 0.24 mm Infill: 15% Walls: 2

The box is already quite sturdy with those settings. If you want a cleaner appearance, reduce the layer height. If you want a stronger box, adding one or two additional walls will make a significant difference. Supports Supports are generally not required. The only area that may benefit from supports is the lid hinge section, depending on your printer and slicer settings. Materials I printed mine in PETG and highly recommend it. Recommended materials:

PETG ABS ASA

I do not recommend PLA unless you can control the temperatures it will be exposed to. Leaving a PLA box in a hot vehicle can easily lead to warping. Seal Material If printing the gasket seal:

TPU or another flexible filament is recommended.

If you don't have flexible filament available, you can also fill the gasket channel with silicone sealant to improve water resistance. About the Pins Many Urchin baits come with a small steel insert that fits perfectly in the storage slots designed into this box. If your baits did not include the insert, you can substitute:

A straightened paperclip Small-diameter music wire Any similar metal pin

Cut the pin to approximately 100 mm in length for proper fitment. Optional spacers are available to help maintain alignment and keep the pins captured during transport. Important Warning About Soft Plastics ⚠️ Use caution when storing different types or brands of soft plastic/rubber baits together. Some bait materials can react chemically when stored in contact with one another, causing discoloration, softening, deformation, melting, or other unwanted effects. If you're unsure of compatibility, store different bait types separately or use the optional divider to isolate them. Final Thoughts The goal was simply to keep Urchin baits organized and protected. Everything beyond that was just mission creep. The result is a sturdy storage solution that keeps Urchin baits organized, protected, and ready for the next trip. If you make one, post a make and let me know how it works for you. Tight lines! 🎣

Design Credit This project was built using the excellent Rugged Box (Parametric) design by @Whity as the starting point. The base box geometry, hinge, latch system, and overall rugged-box framework were generated from Whity's parametric model, which I then customized and modified to create a purpose-built storage solution for Urchin fishing baits, including the internal pin-slot retention system, divider options, spacers, seal configuration, and other design changes. Many thanks to Whity for making the original design available to the community. Original model: Rugged Box (Parametric) by Whity
