Sobre este modelo
Makerworld (https://makerworld.com/ko/models/3402659-x2d-100mm-exhaust-duct-adapter-v1#profileId-3874492) Slightly Oversized for Print Tolerance
This adapter is designed with a small amount of extra clearance to account for dimensional variation and shrinkage across different PLA materials, printers, and print settings.
The fit also takes into consideration the dimensional variation of rigid PVC ducting and flexible exhaust ducts.
Because of this, the connection may feel slightly loose depending on your setup. This is intentional and should not affect normal use. Snap-Fit Clips
The adapter uses snap-fit clips designed to be easy to attach and remove by hand while remaining securely in place during normal use.
They are intended to provide a balance between convenient removal and reliable retention. Design Intent
My initial designs included 45-degree and 90-degree adapters, as well as very short adapters intended to minimize the amount of space required behind the printer.
However, compact geometry is not always ideal for airflow.
Sharp bends, abrupt transitions, and short turbulent passages can increase airflow resistance, turbulence, and exhaust noise while reducing overall exhaust performance.
For this reason, I chose a relatively long and straight adapter.
The intention is to keep the airflow path from the exhaust fan as smooth as reasonably possible, while allowing the flexible duct itself to handle larger bends and changes in direction. Small Air Gap
Three sides of the adapter provide the main grip, while one side intentionally includes a very small clearance gap.
This gap is not intended as a major exhaust leak. Depending on the pressure and airflow conditions, it may allow a small amount of surrounding air to be drawn into the main exhaust stream through air entrainment (jet entrainment).
The goal is to avoid creating an unnecessarily restrictive sealed interface while maintaining a smooth exhaust path.
However, actual airflow behavior will vary depending on the fan, duct length, bends, and installation conditions.
If you prefer a fully sealed or semi-permanent installation, simply seal the joint with duct tape. 100 mm Duct Connection
The 100 mm duct connection includes two retaining ridges to help prevent the duct from slipping off.
A small amount of clearance is intentionally provided for compatibility with different duct products.
If you would like a tighter or more airtight connection, I recommend using a stainless-steel hose clamp or duct tape. Compatibility
This is Version 1 of the adapter.
It was designed and tested specifically around the exhaust fan dimensions of the X2D unit that I personally own.
If your printer uses the same exhaust fan and mounting geometry, the adapter may also fit your machine.
However, I cannot guarantee compatibility with different printer models, revisions, or exhaust fan assemblies.
Please check your printer model and exhaust fan dimensions before printing.
I mainly work in Blender 3D, with a focus on subdivision modeling.
This model was created from scratch using measurements I took myself with a vernier caliper.
I've occasionally seen disputes in the community over similar designs, so I wanted to clarify this in advance. My hope is simply to encourage a more respectful and relaxed environment for sharing designs, while making things a little more convenient for everyone.
Thank you for checking out my design.
Happy printing!
