Sobre este modelo
This model is a remix and the original design was created by @samsve I modified the model by cutting two holes from the blade tip to pommel which will accept a 3mm or 1/8" steel rods. Both rods are 780mm or 30.7 inches long and I simply cut mine with a hacksaw. The original design isn't completely symmetrical so care must be taken when gluing the blade sections together that they are in the right orientation. (Do a test fit and mark the pieces before gluing) I used the pegs that @samsve created for the model to align the holes for the rods and kept all the pegs in place thinking they would help with alignment, although I found this modification to make the pegs pretty fragile and I either broke or sanded down most of the pegs when assembling the sword. When I originally printed this model I had made the rod holes too narrow and had to drill and ream them out, in the files I've shared the holes are 3.4mm in diameter which should provide some clearance for glue/epoxy. PETG is my current preferred filament for swords although PLA or anything else can be used as well, I printed my sword nearly solid with 4 perimeters and 40% infill. I used E6000 epoxy in the holes with the metal rods, and super glue / cyanoacrylate to connect all the plastic pieces together. Using excessive amounts of super glue in the joints and allowing it to dry before sanding or filing it down after helped hide any visible gaps between the pieces.
If anyone would like the design modified further to accept some other size of rod or bar, or some other change, please let me know. If you like the design don't forget to share some love with the original creator @samsve.
