Twin Ember Eddy — Generative Wall Sculpture in 350 Parts

Twin Ember Eddy begins as something you cannot see: a vector field with two vortices turning the same way across a long panel. The 350 printed modules do not form the pattern by chance. Each one is oriented, tilted and sized by the current at its position.

WHAT IS AN EDDY FIELD?

An eddy is a swirl in a flow. Here two of them sit side by side, and every module reads the flow where it stands: pointing along it, leaning further where it is strong, growing taller as it leans.

350 MODULES, ONE CONTINUOUS CURRENT

Seen from the front, the horns line up into spirals that run from one eye to the other. Seen from the side, they are a forest — 110 mm of real depth, which is what makes the shadows move as the light changes during the day.

FIVE COLOURS, NO AMS REQUIRED

Colour follows the flow inward: cream where the current runs out, amber, orange, deep red, and a dark ember at the centres. Every part is printed in one filament; the five-colour look comes from sorting.

HOW IT PRINTS AND ASSEMBLES

Fifteen single-colour plates for a 256 mm bed, about 3.77 kg of PLA, no supports. The numbered parts glue onto a 1:1 wall template. Finished: 719 × 362 × 110 mm.
