Sobre este modelo
Set your coffee mug down and the cup's own weight presses the center petals flat: eight spider legs swing up and close in a cage around it, as if the spider just caught your drink. Lift the mug and the legs fall open again on their own, by gravity—no springs. The ring and all eight articulated spider legs print together as one STL in a single run, no supports, no glue, no screws, ready straight off the build plate.
WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT - True print-in-place: 9 bodies (ring + 8 legs) in one STL, fully articulated when it comes off the bed. - Gravity-driven mechanism: each leg is a rocker arm with a center petal; the cup's weight pushes the petals down and the legs close; remove the cup and gravity opens them back. - Fits cups up to dia. 91.7 mm; mug handles sit between two legs. - Conical pivot pins with 0.45 mm clearance — no glue, no stringing, no post-processing. - Built-in hard stop at 25 deg keeps the legs from over-rotating and falling off.
WHAT'S INCLUDED - 1 STL file: Spider Coaster (dia. 140 × 73.9 mm, 9 bodies print-in-place). - Original design.

PRINT SETTINGS (suggested) - Supports: none · Layer: 0.2 mm · Walls: 3 · Infill: 20 % · Nozzle: 0.4 mm - Material: PLA or PETG - Orientation: flat on the bed as exported (Z=0) - Colors: matte black, dark grey, or orange; two-color ring vs. legs possible with AMS/MMU Settings are suggestions. Mechanism not yet tested on a printer; pivot clearance designed at 0.45 mm for standard 0.4 mm nozzles.
ASSEMBLY & CARE 1. Print flat on the bed as oriented in the STL file. 2. When removing from the bed, flex each leg up and down manually to free the conical pivots before forcing them. 3. No assembly needed: legs are already articulated when the print comes off the plate. 4. Place a mug (up to dia. 91.7 mm) on the coaster; if the mug has a handle, orient it between two legs. 5. Wipe clean with a dry cloth; avoid submerging in water to protect the pivots.
LICENSE Personal use only: print it as many times as you like for yourself, friends and family. Please don't share or resell the files. Want to sell prints? A commercial license is available — just send me a message.
Post a Make when you print it — I'd love to see the legs snap shut around your mug!
