Sobre este modelo
My kid has broken the OEM version of this bracket twice, and Specialized doesn't sell just the bracket - they want you to buy the whole belt guard parts kit which is a waste of plastic and money. The belt guard is too wide in the front, which allows the crank arms to accidentally catch it sometimes when backpedaling, leading to the breakage. So I also applied a belt sander to the guard itself to make it narrower along the front curve and improve overall fitment to the bike. I recommend doing that as well if you’re having the same issue. It widens the gap between the crank arm and the guard, without impacting the belt or chainring, which you can see in one of the photos. The OEM part uses a heat set insert to receive the screw that holds the guard onto this bracket. I don't have any inserts, so I just let the screw cut threads in the printed plastic (do that first before trying to fully assemble it in place). That's not the place which has been failing anyway, and it feels strong enough for what it needs to do. I made the weakest part slightly thicker for more strength, although I fear that may just lead to breakage somewhere else in the event of another pedal impact. I printed it in PETG with a 0.2mm structural profile, with 4 perimeters and 6 top and bottom layers (important to allow a little extra meat for the threads to cut), 25% gyroid infill, and autogenerated supports, oriented as it is in the STL. That means a lot of support on that big flat surface, plus the screw holes. Once you pry off the support, the remaining surface texture kinda sucks, but it's hidden away inside the guard so nobody needs to see it or touch it after the install.
