Today I whipped together some simple beds for use with my modular terrain set. I've created a bedroll design, single bed (same size just raise slightly) and a double bed. Beds are like anchor elements in a scene and establish a rooms' purpose - aside from this they aren't really usable or playable so I think they should be suuper simple and compact.
For these I played around with some cloth simulations to create the pillows and sheets. These are surprisingly easy and fun to do - esp the pillows, it's fun to watch them blow up like marshmallows in fire.
These are all supportless and print in <20 minutes each. Normally I would add a wood grain to my props but these are so small and simple I didn't bother. If you want a wood grain on your beds let me know with a comment like "Gimme dat wood grain" in the comments and I'll add some more variants for you all.
While I was writing this I thought that I remembered that I hadn't made a mimic in a while so I spent another 45 minutes or so turning the double bed into a mimic. This is another fun exercise of slicing up the model, sculpting, masking, dropping in parts and then cleaning up holes etc... to make it printable. Unlike the other beds this one isn't supportless but with some basic tree supports or the usual resin auto supports it should print fine. It has the same footprint as the double bed so it can easily swap in place with that.
