Shop Vacuum Adapter for Honda and Acura Oil Changes

This is not an oil extractor to suck the fluid out. This print is for using a shop vac to prevent messy spills while removing the drain plug. This method has been called the "'No-Mess' Drain Hack". If you have a vacuum attached to the oil fill hole when you unscrew the drain plug, you won't get an initial oily spurt. The oil will pour out after you switch off the vacuum. This is nice during oil changes, but really helpful if you just need to swap a leaky gasket on the drain plug and don't want to change the oil. This video demonstrates the process:

Works with Craftsman and Rigid wet dry vacs. I'm not sure if there's a universal wet/dry vac hose size, but if you know please leave a comment. When you screw the adapter on, do it gently. It needs almost no force to make a good seal since oil will fill the threads. Do not over-tighten as the threads could potentially split. Alternately if you have a heavy hose and it guts a hard tug, the adapter may split. I added a center beam so that if it does snap, you have some thing to grab on to and unscrew. The threads are designed for a 2018 Honda CR-V, and this model was adapted from one designed to fit the civic, so it should fit those as well.
