Sobre este modelo
Make shell-shaped bath bombs with a raised fan of ribs on top. This is a 3-part press mold you print at home: a bottom base, a tube and a top stamp that presses the pattern into the mix. Fill, press, lift.
Finished bath bomb
- 92 x 65 x 38 mm (3.6 x 2.6 x 1.5 in)
- 151 cm³ of mix, the same as a 2.6 in round bath bomb
- Raised pattern 1.2 mm tall with rounded edges
- Flat bottom, so it sits level
What's included
- Bottom base, tube and top stamp as STL, OBJ, 3MF, PLY, GLB, DAE and X3D files, in millimetres
- Already oriented to print flat, with no supports needed
- Every part fits in a 4 in (102 mm) cube
- 0.35 mm sliding clearance per side between the tube and the parts that slide into it
Part sizes
- Bottom base: 99 x 72 x 8 mm
- Tube: 98 x 71 x 59 mm
- Top stamp: 91 x 64 x 23 mm
How to use
1. Set the tube on the base. The plug fits up inside the tube.
2. Fill the tube with mix. There's extra room above the finished thickness for loose mix.
3. Press the stamp in firmly and evenly until its top is 6 mm above the tube rim.
4. Lift the stamp off, then lift the tube straight up. The bath bomb stays on the base, pattern up.
Tips
- Pack the mix a little over the top of the tube before pressing.
- A light dusting of cornstarch on the stamp face helps the pattern release cleanly.
- Leave the bath bomb on the base to dry before moving it.
FAQ
- Can I scale it? Print at 100%. Scaling changes the 0.35 mm sliding clearance, so the parts may bind or rattle.
- What mix works? Any standard bath bomb mix that holds its shape when you squeeze a handful.
- What printer do I need? Any FDM or resin printer with a build area of at least 100 x 100 mm.
- How do I clean it? Rinse in lukewarm water and let it dry. Avoid hot water with PLA.
