Sally Skelington - The Nightmare before Christmas
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS!
Following on from Jack Skellington, I was asked by many to model Sally to go with him. Holding a beautiful dead bunch of flowers, in her colourful patchwork dress, standing in amongst the tombstones. She is both beautiful and very Tim Burton! The figure is able to stand on her own with no base, but i made a base to keep her more stable.
Perect for Nightmare before Christmas lovers, or as a general decoration for the spooky season, or all year round! NO AMS, printed in parts and assembled, all that is needed is some time and some glue to keep everything together permenently. The main figure is 22cm tall and with base.
Assembley is simple and intuative, I have included a video of the second part of dress assembley. The first parts are easy to install and each have a different peg meaning, they only go on the middle peg one way. The Dress was hard to model in a way that made it easy to assemble and easy to print, but also looked good and wasn't too annoying to assemble. All parts attach to a central core which holds everything together. Some small gaps may be present depending on printer and filament and support removal, however the dress is a patchwork and I think some small gaps are fitting with the style.
IMPORTANT - IMPORTANT - IMPORTANT
- Neck is fragile due to the style of her design, so be carefull when attaching hair etc.
- Pay attention to the order the white rings are placed on the build plate as they go onto the foot in that order (nearest the fornt to furthest) to create the stripe effect. Put these on before gluing the foot in!! The parts are named in the profile if confussed, but keep them in order!
- The small black peice for the eye goes into the back of the white peice so install before gluing eye in place!!
- Install head and the two sections of the top together then gluing onto the main peg!!
- I found it easier to install the flower stems into the hands before installing the arms aswell!!
AMS OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE PRINT PROFILES MENU
📌 Recommended printing settings:
- Material: PLA
- Layer height: 0.16 mm
- Infill: 15%
- Nozzle: 0.4mm
supports where nessesary - I have tried to make it so all have a surface contacting the plate however due to the detail and complexity of the modeling they sometimes require alot of support, so be aware and be carefull during support removal. Use a naked flame gentley and for short intervals to clean surfaces after removal
Assembly – Recommended Method on multipart models
- Dry fit: Assemble all parts without glue to check alignment and fit.
- Cleanup: Lightly deburr edges and pegs where nessesary with a file/modeling tool to ensure uniform contact. All parts are tested and fit together.
- Optional fix: Use glue for permanent assembly.
