The photos show the same model printed on a Creality SPARKX i8 with its mixed-filament feature. This page is the ColorMix version: the PrusaSlicer project below does the same rainbow with virtual extruders for a Prusa XL, and the screenshots at the end show it. ColorMix PrusaSlicer 2.9.6 project for the Original Prusa XL 5T (Input Shaper, 0.4 mm nozzle), 0.15mm SPEED profile. The fire is a single body split into 22 height bands that blend from violet at the bottom to red at the tip: 20 virtual extruders plus pure cyan and pure yellow. Nothing to paint: open the project and slice. Filament slots: T1 Cyan, T2 Magenta, T3 Yellow, T4 White, T5 Black. Fire, bottom to top: - Magenta + cyan: 80/20, 67/33, 60/40, 40/60, 25/75, 20/80 - Cyan: 100% - Cyan + yellow: 80/20, 75/25, 67/33, 60/40, 50/50, 40/60, 33/67, 25/75, 20/80 - Yellow: 100% - Yellow + magenta: 80/20, 75/25, 67/33, 60/40, 50/50 Each band is about 5.5 mm (about 37 layers at 0.15 mm). The colours mix by alternating layers, so I only used ratios that repeat within 5 layers: no lone stripes, and every band reads as one colour from a step away. The ratios were picked so neighbouring bands change colour in small, even steps. It shows best on the steep sides of the flames. Parts (all in the project; STL files included) - Dragon: black (T5), organic supports from the build plate - Rainbow fire: the virtual extruders - Base: white (T4), organic supports from the build plate - Light tray and 3 pegs (two of 13 mm, one of 16 mm): white (T4), no supports; the pegs with a 3 mm brim Print settings: 0.15 mm layers, 2 perimeters, 10% gyroid infill (as the ColorMix guide recommends), organic supports from the build plate only. Open the file with File > Open Project, not Import: with Import, the virtual extruders are merged into the last physical one. What you need: an LED puck up to 59.6 mm wide and 8 mm tall. The tray is made for the Bambu Lab LED Lamp Kit (MH001). Assembly 1. Put the LED in the light tray with the cable through the slot underneath, and set the tray into the base. 2. Push the two short pegs (13 mm) into the base and set the fire in it: the bottom of the fire sits in a cup in the base, so it only goes in one way. 3. Push the long peg (16 mm) into the tip of the fire and set the dragon on it: its jaw wraps around the column, so it does not turn. The pegs are a snug fit (0.15 mm clearance). Add a drop of glue if you want it permanent. #ColorMix
