Sobre este modelo
Propylene (C3H6, CAS 115-07-1) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Every atom carries its engraved element symbol, so no colour key is needed. An STL file stores shape only, never colour, so a printed ball-and-stick model usually gives no clue which sphere is which element. The MolGod approach puts the information where students look for it, on the atom: every sphere is engraved with its symbol. Every file is meant for the classroom: designed to help learners identify atoms quickly and then explore how they are joined in the molecule. It shortens the path from lesson plan to printed model, because no one has to build the molecule or add labels by hand. Teachers and researchers can find the project rationale and validation plan at https://molgod.org/engraved-molecular-models/. There is not a single ring in Propylene; 9 atoms are linked by 8 bonds in an open chain (7 single and 1 double). Hand the model round and let students tally the engraved atoms: 3 C + 6 H, 9 in total. This molecule gives students these functional groups to identify: carbon-carbon double bond (C=C). Students who finish early can look up Methyl vinyl ether (CAS 107-25-5) and Chloro(dimethyl)vinylsilane (CAS 1719-58-0), the closest neighbours in the collection, and list what differs. A hydrogen-bond-free example (computed: zero donors, zero acceptors) for the topic of intermolecular attraction. MolGod.org offers this engraved model free to anyone teaching or learning chemistry. Teachers: pass the model round at the start of the lesson, before showing any diagram. Free to print and free to bring into any classroom. When you publish a photo, a worksheet or a remix, CC BY-SA 4.0 requires you to credit "MolGod.org" as the author of the model, link to the original and to the licence, indicate any changes and share remixes under the same licence (the ready attribution line is below). No sign-up, no fees and no review required. Every review helps us refine the models for students. Tell us what you think in the comments, or reach us at https://molgod.org/contact/. Feel free to discuss the model here, compare notes with other educators, or contact us; every conversation helps us build better teaching models. We also build models on request: tell us the CAS number of any molecule and we will prepare an engraved version. STL mesh: 101,484 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.
