Sobre este modelo

ORBIT is a two-part desk organizer for keys, rings, jewelry and small everyday items. The shallow upper tray rotates around a pivot near one end of the base, moving aside to give access to the lower compartment.

The pivot is printed as part of the base. The upper tray slides onto it, so assembly requires no screws, bearings or glue. The tray lifts off for cleaning. There is no latch or rotation stop. This is an open organizer, not a sealed storage box.

DIMENSIONS AT FULL SIZE

Closed assembly: 110 x 78 x 41.4 mm. Base, including pivot: 110 x 78 x 39.4 mm. Upper tray: 88 x 62 x 15 mm. Fully open at 180 degrees: approximately 173 x 78 x 41.4 mm.

INCLUDED FILES

ORBIT-Base-v001.stl: Print one base. ORBIT-Rotating-Tray-v001.stl: Print one upper tray. ORBIT-Print-Layout-v001.3mf: Both main parts, separated and positioned flat for printing. ORBIT-Fit-Test-v001.stl and ORBIT-Fit-Test-v001.3mf: The same optional fit test, containing one pin and three sleeves. PRINT-AND-ASSEMBLY.md: Printing and assembly instructions.

The 3MF files contain model geometry in millimeters. They do not include G-code or printer, filament and process presets. Select your own printer and PLA profile before slicing.

Import either the main 3MF or the two main STL files. Importing both formats together will duplicate the parts.

PRINTING

Print both pieces flat-side down, with the tray openings and pivot pointing upward. The parts are designed to print without supports.

Each piece can be printed in a different color. A multicolor system is not required when printing the pieces separately.

Suggested starting settings for PLA and a 0.4 mm nozzle:

Layer height: 0.20 mm. Walls: 4. Top and bottom layers: 5. Infill: 15 percent. Supports: Off. Scale: 100 percent.

These are starting recommendations, not a record of the exact settings used for the photographed print. Use suitable temperature, bed and cooling settings for your filament and printer. Printing time and material use depend on your slicing settings.

FIT TEST

The main model uses an 8.0 mm pivot and an 8.3 mm hole, giving 0.30 mm diametral clearance.

The optional test includes three sleeves: One raised tab: 0.20 mm clearance. Two raised tabs: 0.30 mm clearance. Three raised tabs: 0.40 mm clearance.

The supplied full-size upper tray uses the two-tab test clearance of 0.30 mm. Alternative full-size tray clearances are not included.

The test is useful when using a different printer or material. Allow the test pieces to cool before checking their fit.

ASSEMBLY AND USE

Allow both parts to cool. Remove loose filament or edge burrs. Align the upper tray hole with the base pivot and lower it gently onto the support.

Rotate the tray by hand to check the fit. Do not force a tight fit or glue the moving joint.

Keep heavier items in the lower tray. Check stability with your intended contents when the upper tray is swung out. Lift the organizer by its base.

PHYSICAL PROTOTYPE

The model was printed in PLA at full size without changes to the files. The maker confirmed that the 0.30 mm fit rotates comfortably with a firm feel.

Fit can vary with printer calibration, filament and first-layer expansion. Long-term wear and load capacity have not been quantified.

The first three gallery images are AI-assisted visualizations based on the original CAD views and the physical prototype. The printer photo shows the actual print. Use the STL and 3MF files as the dimensional reference.

This listing contains digital printing files, not a physical product. Keys, jewelry and other items shown are not included.
