🛠️ Made with 3DGEN — turn any STL into a printable mold, free to try in your browser → https://3dgenapp.com/thingiverse A printable two-part mold for a Moai head candle. No silicone needed: print the two halves, close them, pour the wax, and take the Moai out. I've cast it in wax (the orange candle) and in plaster (the white one) — both came out of this exact mold. What I changed from the original The Moai itself is "Moai Face" by QUOjt — thank you for sharing it as public domain! I didn't change the face. I used it as the master shape and turned it into a mold: - the Moai is subtracted from a solid block, so the block holds its negative; - the block is split into two halves along the side, with locating keys so they line up; - a pour opening at the top that also holds the wick.

What's in the files - Two mold halves, about 140 × 94 mm each, on one plate - Prints flat, no supports

What you'll need - Wax: I use a 50/50 blend of soy wax and paraffin (or casting plaster) - A wick - A release agent — a thin layer of petroleum jelly works well - Optional: wax colorant

How to cast - Print both halves. - Wipe a thin layer of petroleum jelly inside both halves. - Place the wick in the top opening and close the halves. Hold them together with tape or clamps. - Pour the melted wax slowly through the top opening. - As it cools the wax sinks a little in the middle — top it up with a second pour. - When it's fully cool, open the halves and take the Moai out.

Print settings Printer: Bambu Lab A1, 0.4 mm nozzle · Material: PLA · Layer height: 0.2 mm · Walls: 2 · Infill: 15% grid · Supports: none · 1 plate (both halves) How the mold was made You can build a two-part mold like this in any CAD program if you're willing to spend some time on it. I made it with 3DGEN — it turns any STL into a printable two-part mold right in the browser, no CAD needed: https://3dgenapp.com/thingiverse Share your Moai in the makes! 🗿
