The "Give Your Fossil a Stage" Megalodon Tooth Display Stand
My son-in-law Evan loves megalodon teeth, but a real one runs into the hundreds of dollars. So he printed one instead, and it ended up lying flat on a shelf looking like a printed part rather than a fossil. I told him I could fix that. This is the stand I designed for it, and it now sits on the red shelf in his kitchen.
WHAT MAKES IT WORK - Cradled Arms, Point Down: A pair of arms hold the tooth point-down, echoing the way it sat in the jaw. It reads as a specimen on display instead of an object on a shelf. - Counterweighted, Not Clamped: A vertical support on the opposite side balances the arms, so the tooth leans forward for viewing without the stand tipping. Nothing grips or glues to the tooth; it lifts straight out whenever you want to handle it. - Built Around the Scan Everyone Prints: Sized to the widely printed Lapworth Museum megalodon scan below, rather than designed as a generic cradle and hoped for the best. - One Piece, No Hardware: 134 x 108 x 40 mm, prints flat in 2 h 36 m for about 48 g. - Debossed MakerX Mark: On the underside.

Tree supports required | 0.12mm layer height | PLA
The cradling arms overhang, so tree supports on auto at a 30 deg threshold are part of the shipped profile - about 1.5 g of support that twists off by hand. Sliced and printed on a Creality Hi with a 0.4 mm nozzle.
Give it a stage.
