The "Stand It Up, Let It Breathe" Vertical Laptop Stand 🎯
You've gone the external monitor and wireless keyboard route — so the laptop itself just needs somewhere to live. Lying flat blocks airflow and takes up more room than it should. I wanted something minimal that stands it up and lets it breathe. So I designed this.
🟩 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞
▸ 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 — Stands the laptop on edge instead of flat. The stand takes up 60 x 200 mm of desk and gives back everything the laptop was covering.
▸ 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗨𝗽 𝗧𝗼 𝟮𝟱 𝗺𝗺 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸 — The channel is sized for a 25 mm machine at the mouth and tapers inward as it goes down, so thinner laptops wedge gently instead of rattling around. Nothing tightens onto the lid, nothing to snap, and no pressure held against the screen.
▸ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 — Keeps the laptop upright and open to the air in a ventilated cabinet or on any flat surface that allows for airflow, instead of trapping heat against a shelf.
▸ 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲, 𝗡𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 — No screws, no magnets, no glue, nothing to assemble. It comes off the plate finished.
▸ 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝘆 𝗕𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 — Wide, stable base holds the laptop securely closed with no wobble or tipping risk.
🟩 𝗜𝗙 𝗜𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗔 𝗖𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗧
This was built for a laptop living inside a cabinet, which is also why I designed the Louvered Vent Cover — a clean finished cover for a hole-saw opening cut into a cabinet, door or wall for airflow. Standing the laptop up solves the airflow around the machine; the vent solves the airflow through the cabinet. They are separate downloads and neither needs the other, but they were designed for the same problem.
🟩 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗦𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦
One plate, one part, already set up in the project:
0.2 mm layer height · 3 walls · 5 top and 3 bottom shells · 10% gyroid · outer brim · no supports required
It prints standing upright, the way it is used. The brim is there because the footprint is narrow for the height — leave it on.
PLA · 220 °C nozzle · Epoxy Resin Plate · sliced on a Creality Hi 2 with a 0.4 mm nozzle
🟩 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗦
▸ Footprint: 60 x 200 mm
▸ Height: 150 mm
▸ Fits laptops up to 25 mm thick
▸ Print: 4 h 39 m and 156.85 g
Built for a setup running a 42" display with wireless keyboard and mouse, where the laptop just needs a clean place to park. Happy organizing! 🎯
