Creality K2 Plus Poop Chute — Clear of the Fans and the Power Switch 🎯

The K2 Plus drops its purge out of a small port on the back panel, and from there it goes wherever gravity takes it. My printer sits at the back edge of my desk, so I wanted that purge carried down the back of the machine and into the trash can under the desk. So I designed this chute, and a small funnel to go with it.

🟩 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞

▸ 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄𝘀 — It mounts on the two screws either side of the waste port. Take them out, put the chute on, screw them back in. No extra hardware.

▸ 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝘀 — The chute curves down between the rear fans, and its walls stand 3mm off the panel wherever they pass over a fan grille, so the fans keep breathing.

▸ 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 — The chute ends beside the power inlet, not over it, so the plug and the switch stay easy to reach.

▸ 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 — The side facing the printer is open and the back panel forms the fourth wall, so purge slides down smooth plastic with nothing to snag on.

🟩 𝗢𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗞 𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗟

▸ 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗸 — The funnel sits on the desk edge right behind the printer, catches the purge, and turns it forward under the desk into a bin.

▸ 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 — The back of the printer needs to sit 13mm in from the back edge of the desk, and the funnel's exit starts 57mm below the desktop, so a desktop up to about 55mm thick clears it. The chute ends about 110mm above the desk, leaving a small gap above the funnel.

🟩 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗜𝗣

The factory screws are coarse self-tapping screws, not M3. Start each one through its tab until about 1mm pokes out the back, then use the tips to find the holes in the printer. They go in nicely.

🟩 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗦𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦

Two plates, already set up in the 3MF:

▸ 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘁𝗲 — 1 h 41 m and 76 g. Prints lying flat, open side down, with a little tree support (0.3 g).

▸ 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 (𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹) — 3 h 56 m and 161 g. Prints standing up, with a 5mm brim.

0.20mm layer height · Z anti-aliasing · 3 walls · 15% gyroid · 5 top and 3 bottom shells · PETG · 250 °C nozzle · 70 °C Textured PEI plate · sliced on a Creality K2 Plus with a 0.4mm nozzle
