Introducing xPEGS — The Printable Expandable Grid System
Description xPEGS is a 1-in x 1-in pegboard organization system that’s modular, movable and customizable. I designed xPEGS because I wanted to easily mount and organize items on my pegboard, no matter if my pegboard is installed flush to the wall or spaced away. Plus, I wanted a system that secured items well, held more weight than other 3D printed designs, were easy to place on and off the pegboard, looked good in more places than my garage and basement, and allowed me to attach my organizers in a variety of ways.
How it works
xPEGS are similar to a french cleat or keyhole slot system. Channels in the back of the holders (called xPEGS grooves) slide over the printable xPEGS. If you need a monster hold on your pegboard, xPEGS works with any 4 mm or #8 flathead screws. Simply print your xPEGS button, insert the screw, then slide your organizer on. Need even more holding power? Forget the button and use any 4mm or #8 flathead screw with a wall anchor or stud. Want to be able to lift the organizer on and off? Leave the screw a little loose in the slot or turn the printable xPEGS so the flats are vertical. Want a tighter fit? Just adjust the screw a little tighter or turn the printable xPEGS so the flats are horizontal. Features - Can be used with screws or 3D printed xPEGS buttons
- Buttons include: screw holder, wall anchor mount, printable pegs, decor buttons (to cover empty holes, or create a pattern or picture)
- xPEGS grooves can print in vertical or horizontal orientation
- Gridfinity + xPEGS generator allows you to create Gridfinity bins with xPEGS grooves
Perfect for: - Tools
- Hobby and craft supplies
- Pet toys, food and supplies
- Cleaning supplies
- Household items
- Pantry organization
- Craft show displays
- And more
Already have a favorite 3D printed holder, organizer, or widget? Almost any 3D printed holder or organizer can be modified to work with xPEGS. My design includes Boolean extrusions that can either be used in a slicer or CAD program to create the grooves for xPEGS in other designs.
Credits Thanks to Reddit user cram42 for the Gridfinity generator inspiration. And to Benjamen Johnson for sparking my 3D printed button design.
