Hexchess Reinforced OpenLOCK Clips

Hexchess III introduces compact boards with 4 x 4 cm tiles, alongside the standard 5 x 5 cm size. To keep the whole Hexchess family fully compatible, these reinforced OpenLOCK clips let you bring the compact size to your Hexchess and Hexchess 2 sets too.

How it works

Print your Hexchess or Hexchess 2 tiles at 80% scale. The 5 cm tiles become 4 cm compact tiles. Print these clips at 100% scale. Do not scale the clips. Snap the tiles together. The reinforced clips are designed to fill the smaller OpenLOCK slots of the 80% tiles and hold them firmly. Scaling a tile down also shrinks its OpenLOCK slots, so regular clips sit loose. These clips were redesigned for that: shorter slots, a solid, wider centre bridge and a small hex detent. They were print-tested by Dalla Croce Studios on real 80% tiles before release.

Material: PLA or PETG (PETG gives a little more flex and grip) Layer height: 0.2 mm Infill: 100%, or at least 4 walls Orientation: flat on the bed, no supports needed Fit tips

Too tight: lightly sand the clip edges, or scale the clip to 99% in X and Y. Too loose: try PETG, or scale the clip to 101% in X and Y. Compatibility
