The "Not Your Average Floating Shelf" Hex Wall Shelf 🎯

Standard floating shelves are rectangles — functional, but nothing you'd point to on a wall. I wanted something that felt more like decor than storage. So I designed this.

🟩 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞

▸ 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 — A clean hexagonal profile that reads as decor first, shelf second. It hangs flat top and flat bottom, so it sits square on the wall and gives you a level floor to set things on.

▸ 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 — A 20mm plate built into the back edge of one facet, drilled for two screws 75mm apart. Mount that facet at the top and the whole bracket disappears inside the shelf. From the room you see just the two screw heads, deep in the top facet.

▸ 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗧𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗨𝘀𝗲 — 120mm from the wall to the front rim, with a 180mm opening across the flats. It holds real things, not just a tea light.

▸ 𝗟𝗶𝗽 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗣𝘂𝘁 — A 3mm lip runs along the front edge of the floor, so pens, dice and small pots stop at the edge instead of walking off it.

▸ 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗶𝗺 — The front edge carries a 2mm round-over, so it reads as a finished object rather than a printed box.

▸ 𝗛𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗹𝗲 — Two or three at staggered heights read as one piece of wall art rather than three shelves.

▸ 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 — Designed for a specific request, now available as its own model.

🟩 𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛

▸ 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗫 𝗧𝟮𝟱 𝗖𝗮𝗽 — Drive it with T25 star drive screws and the cap presses straight over the socket, so even that one visible screw head disappears. Free, and it prints in the same filament: https://makerxdesigns.com/published-models/t25-cap/t25-cap.html

🟩 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗖𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧

▸ 219 x 190 x 120mm, and with its brim the plate footprint is 229 x 200mm. It will NOT fit a 220 x 220 bed. A 235, 256 or 260mm bed takes it comfortably.

▸ It is a real print: 381.93g of filament and about 8h 33m.

🟩 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗦𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦

Tree supports required · 0.20mm layer height · 4 walls · 25% gyroid infill · 5mm brim · PLA

It ships oriented — mounting plate flat on the bed, rounded front rim up — so there is nothing to rotate. The supports are not for the plate; they carry the front lip, which ends up 116mm in the air. They twist out by hand. Print it in PETG instead if the shelf is going to hold weight or sit in direct sun — the whole load hangs off two screws.
