Sobre este modelo

Glycidyl methacrylate (C7H10O3, CAS 106-91-2) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Element symbols are cut into each atom sphere: a self-labelled teaching aid.

At its heart, Glycidyl methacrylate is built around one 3-membered ring. The model shows 20 bonds: 18 single and 2 double. Counting task: 7 C + 10 H + 3 O gives 20 engraved spheres; can the class rebuild the formula C7H10O3 from the model alone? Spot-the-group challenge: can students find the ester group (-COO-), the epoxide ring (three-membered C-O-C ring) and the carbon-carbon double bond (C=C)? Glycidyl methacrylate has one stereocentre, and this record does not specify its configuration (R or S), which makes the model a natural way into a lesson on enantiomers. Use it when you teach chirality, enantiomers and CIP (R/S) rules, the carbonyl group (C=O), as well as ring strain in three-membered rings.

MolGod.org publishes its molecular models free of charge for teachers and students. Teachers: the engraved symbols let students work with the model without a separate key.

A ball-and-stick model of Glycidyl methacrylate with each element symbol recessed into its atom sphere, generated by MolGod.org from a PubChem-computed 3D conformer (not an experimental crystal structure); atomic coordinates and connectivity are unchanged. STL mesh: 247,026 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.
