Snapped fridge door bar? Clip it back together.

A clip-on splice that repairs a refrigerator door shelf bar (door rack / retainer bar) that has broken in the middle. It wraps the break, holds both halves in line, and puts the shelf back in service. A replacement bar runs about $26 aftermarket to about $47 for the genuine part (Oct 2026), plus shipping and the wait.

Tested and in daily use on a Frigidaire FFTR2021TS5 bottom door bar, part 240534901 (cross-refs PS734935, AP3214630, 948954). Parts retailers list that same bar for 1,264 top-freezer models from Frigidaire, Crosley, Kenmore, Kelvinator and others. The full list is attached as a text file and in the PDF manual. Bars vary, so measure yours and print the fit test first. Print the fit test first Print the 12 mm Fit Test slice (about 21 min and about 3.4 g on a Bambu A1, from our Bambu Studio slice) and clip it onto an unbroken part of the bar. It should click on snugly and not rattle. If it won't go on or it wobbles, don't print the full splice. How to measure 1. Lift the bar off the door. On most models it lifts straight up. 2. Height: bottom edge of the bar to the top of the rail, on the smooth outer face. Target: 41 mm (about 1-5/8 in). 3. Top depth: across the top, from the outer face to the back of the lip wall. Target: 17 mm (about 11/16 in). 4. Within about 0.5 mm either way? Print the fit test. Further off? This version probably won't fit. Leave a comment with your numbers and model. How it works - Grips the outside only. The C-shaped clamp wraps the smooth outer face. The top hook drops behind the lip wall and the bottom hook rolls under the bottom edge. It never touches the ribs inside the channel, so the bins sit the same as before. - Prints standing on end. Every layer is a complete C, so the snap-on flex stays inside each layer. Our first version printed lying flat and split along the layer lines the first time we clipped it on. v2 fixed that. - Built to flex without cracking. Rounded inside corners, 1.8 mm lead-ins on both hooks, 6 walls so it prints fully solid. - No supports. Install 1. Take the bar off the door and push the two broken ends tightly together. 2. Optional: a thin bead of super glue on the broken faces makes the joint stiffer. Let it cure fully before the bar goes back in the fridge. Without glue it's a quick, removable fix. 3. Centre the splice over the break, smooth side out. Hook the top over the lip first, then roll the bottom hook under the edge until it clicks. 4. Snap the bar back onto the door. Print settings - Material: PETG recommended (tougher and springier than PLA, fine in the cold). PLA works but is more brittle when you snap it on. - 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.20 mm layers, 6 walls, 5 top / 4 bottom layers, 15% infill (it prints solid from the walls anyway) - Supports: none. Brim: 6 mm, outer and inner (the part stands 120 mm tall on a small footprint) - Orientation: standing on end, as loaded. Don't lay it flat. - Our print: Creality K2 Combo, SUNLU PETG, about 2 h 50 min and about 31 g. - Bambu A1 (our Bambu Studio slice, SUNLU PETG): splice about 2 h 23 min and about 31 g, fit test about 21 min and about 3.4 g. Files - Fridge Door Bar Splice - Splice.stl: the 120 mm splice, already standing on end - Fridge Door Bar Splice - Fit Test.stl: the 12 mm fit-test slice - PDF manual (install steps, fit check, compatibility list) and the compatible-models list (txt)

Size: splice 120 x 24 x 48 mm, fit test 12 x 24 x 48 mm. Fits a bar 41 mm tall with a 17 mm deep top rail. Safety and care - It clips onto the outside of the bar and isn't meant to touch food. FDM prints aren't food-safe surfaces. - Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Not dishwasher safe. - It's a repair, not a load-rated part. Don't overload the shelf. Check it now and then, and replace the bar if the splice cracks or loosens or the bar breaks somewhere else.
