This is an add-on for the model “Filament Rack for 1” Dowels" I've made found Here. I was at the ‘Depot looking for dowels and found that for the price of one 1" Dowel i could get the equivalent of THREE made out of PVC. The problem is the exterior of the PVC is a bit smaller than 1" making them wobbly.
These inserts go in the holes of the bracket and prevent jiggling. Additionally, I designed a brace to hold the 2 pipes together so the spools don’t push apart as the PVC isn't as sturdy as wood.
Will it last?? Only time will tell…. but for now this is an easy way to get a shelf on the wall at ¼ the cost. Huge credit to the original designer, the brackets are very study, although too much Fillet! A bit of failed lines on the 2nd and 3rd layer. I would re-design with chamfers instead…
