Sobre este modelo

Ethylene (C2H4, CAS 74-85-1) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Every atom carries its engraved element symbol, so no colour key is needed. Teachers who print molecules quickly meet the same gap: the file defines spheres and sticks, but not which element each sphere stands for. MolGod engraves the element symbol directly into every atom sphere, so the identity of each atom is part of the geometry itself. Our intended outcome is simple: students who hold the model should know each atom immediately and use the lesson to understand the molecule's structure. Instead of building a model from scratch, a teacher can go straight from the molecule's name to a file in the slicer. Curious about the science behind the engraving? The project page is at https://molgod.org/engraved-molecular-models/. Lay Ethylene on the desk and search for a ring: there isn't one. Its 6 atoms hang together through 5 bonds (4 single and 1 double). Quick starter: ask students to count the engraved symbols (2 C + 4 H) and check that they add up to 6 atoms and the formula C2H4. Before any theory, let students hunt on the model for the carbon-carbon double bond (C=C). Zero hydrogen-bond donors or acceptors (computed) make it a clear contrast case for intermolecular forces. No carbon here is sp3-hybridised: there are no tetrahedral carbon centres. MolGod.org shares these models for free to make chemistry tangible in the classroom. Teachers: print one per group and let students check the structure against the formula. Download it, print it and use it in your teaching. Sharing it somewhere? The licence (CC BY-SA 4.0) needs four things: "MolGod.org" credited as the creator, links to the original and to the licence, a mention of any changes, and adaptations released under the same licence. The attribution text below covers the first two. There is no registration, no payment and no obligation to rate it. We'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment with your review and tell us how we can make even better molecules for teaching. You can also reach us at https://molgod.org/contact/. The comment section is open for discussion: how did you introduce this molecule, and what did your students notice first? Every request counts: tell us which molecule you need and we will make its 3D model specially for your students. STL mesh: 69,336 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.
