Sobre este modelo

Epichlorohydrin (C3H5ClO, CAS 106-89-8) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Element symbols are cut into each atom sphere: a self-labelled teaching aid.

At its heart, Epichlorohydrin is built around one 3-membered ring. The model shows 10 bonds: all of them single. Hand the model round and let students tally the engraved atoms: 3 C + 5 H + 1 Cl + 1 O, 10 in total. Spot-the-group challenge: can students find the epoxide ring (three-membered C-O-C ring) and the C-Cl bond? Epichlorohydrin has one stereocentre, and this record does not specify its configuration (R or S), which makes the model a natural way into a lesson on enantiomers. Use it when you teach chirality, enantiomers and CIP (R/S) rules, ring strain in three-membered rings, as well as organohalogen compounds and carbon-halogen bonds.

MolGod.org publishes its molecular models free of charge for teachers and students. Teachers: the engraved symbols let students work with the model without a separate key.

A ball-and-stick model of Epichlorohydrin with each element symbol recessed into its atom sphere, generated by MolGod.org from a PubChem-computed 3D conformer (not an experimental crystal structure); atomic coordinates and connectivity are unchanged. STL mesh: 121,712 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.
