Dutch Windmill Lantern - Lithophane LED Tea Light Lamp with Turning Lattice Sails and Brick Smock Tower

A Dutch windmill that lights up at night and whose sails really turn. The octagonal brick smock tower is a thin lithophane shell: every brick is modelled into the wall thickness, so with an LED tea light inside the mortar joints glow brighter than the bricks and the whole mill glows like a cottage window. A door and five small arched windows throw sharp beams of light.

On top sits the boat-shaped cap in a dark filament with a tilted windshaft boss and a tail pole. The four lattice sails (196 mm span) sit on a 5.6 mm axle through the boss and spin freely with a flick of a finger - a small knob locks the axle behind the boss.

SIZE

Body 150 mm, 119 mm wide; assembled with cap 183 mm tall; sails 196 mm span. Scale to 70 % for a smaller lamp if you like (keep the axle at 100 %).

PRINTING

Body: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.12-0.16 mm layers, 2 perimeters, 0 % infill, no supports, not vase mode (door and windows). White or natural PLA/PETG glows best. About 52 g.

Cap: 0.2 mm layers, 15 % infill, flat side down, small supports under the boss and tail pole. Dark brown, black or grey.

Sails: prints flat, 3 perimeters, no supports, about 17 g. Axle and knob: 0.12 mm layers.

ASSEMBLY / LIGHT

Axle through the sail hub (6.2 mm bore), through the boss (5.5 mm), press the knob on the axle end. Set an LED tea light or a USB LED puck on the table, place the body over it (cable notch at the back), set the cap on the rim. LED light only, never a real candle.
