Dingo Dunes | Australian Wildlife Print #4
The fourth piece in my Australian wildlife series features a coastal dingo standing above the shoreline at dusk, with pale sand, cool water, scrubby dunes and a warm orange sky behind it. The fur has been kept fairly nuanced here, so this one leans more into subtle tonal layering than the bolder graphic look of some of the earlier animals. Like the Tasmanian devil, this is a more involved print. It uses six filaments and ten colour changes, with the extra layers doing most of the work in the dingo’s coat, the dune grasses and the beach contours. It is part of my Australian Wildlife Collection, alongside the kookaburra, kangaroo and Tasmanian devil.
An AMS is not required. Any of my print profiles can be edited to convert the colour swaps into manual pauses if you would rather print it without one.
Print Settings:
- 100% infill
- Sparse Infill Pattern: Rectilinear
- 0.04mm layer height
- 0.16mm initial layer
- Model size: 200x200mm
- Aspect ratio: 1:1
- Optional: You can use a height range modifier up to 0.48mm to print the solid initial layers at a higher layer height, such as 0.24mm.
Filaments used:
- #8bd5ee PLA BambuLab Matte Ice Blue, TD: 1.7
- #ff6a13 PLA BambuLab Basic Orange, TD: 5.4
- #000000 PLA BambuLab Basic Black, TD: 0.6
- #ffffff PLA BambuLab Basic Jade White, TD: 5.5
- #ae835b PLA BambuLab Matte Caramel, TD: 1.5
- #e8dbb7 PLA BambuLab Matte Desert Tan, TD: 1
This print uses 6 unique filaments. Similar filament colours may be used, including close Bambu Lab or equivalent alternatives, but results may vary depending on filament brand, colour, transparency, and calibration.
Swap Instructions:
- Start with Matte Ice Blue.
- At layer #13 (0.64mm), swap to Orange.
- At layer #20 (0.92mm), swap to Black.
- At layer #23 (1.04mm), swap to Matte Ice Blue.
- At layer #29 (1.28mm), swap to Black.
- At layer #31 (1.36mm), swap to Jade White.
- At layer #46 (1.96mm), swap to Black.
- At layer #48 (2.04mm), swap to Orange.
- At layer #53 (2.24mm), swap to Matte Caramel.
- At layer #55 (2.32mm), swap to Matte Desert Tan.
