Sobre este modelo

Cyclohexyl methacrylate (C10H16O2, CAS 101-43-9) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Whatever the filament colour, each atom reads clearly thanks to its engraved symbol. Plain ball-and-stick prints look the same for every element: the STL format has no way to say which ball is carbon and which is oxygen. We build the label into the model: each sphere bears its recessed element symbol, readable by eye and by fingertip. The aim of this scientific education project is to help students identify the atoms of a molecule faster and so grasp its chemistry and 3D geometry sooner. It shortens the path from lesson plan to printed model, because no one has to build the molecule or add labels by hand. Teachers and researchers can find the project rationale and validation plan at https://molgod.org/engraved-molecular-models/. Let the group sketch what they see in Cyclohexyl methacrylate, namely one 6-membered ring; afterwards they compare the sketch with the 28 bonds on the model (26 single and 2 double). Counting task: 10 C + 16 H + 2 O gives 28 engraved spheres; can the class rebuild the formula C10H16O2 from the model alone? Where on the model can students see the ester group (-COO-) and the carbon-carbon double bond (C=C)? Let them search before you reveal the answer. Teachers covering the carbonyl group (C=O) will find it a concrete example. Students who finish early can look up Methyl Methacrylate (CAS 80-62-6) and tert-Butyl methacrylate (CAS 25189-00-8), the closest neighbours in the collection, and list what differs. MolGod.org builds and releases these models at no cost for chemistry teaching. Teachers: use the model for an exit-ticket question on the structure the class has just studied. Free to print and free to bring into any classroom. If you share a photo, a lesson or an adapted version, the licence (CC BY-SA 4.0) asks for credit to "MolGod.org" as the model's author, a link to the original and to the licence text, a note of what you changed, and the same licence for adaptations; the attribution line below is ready to copy. You don't need an account, you don't pay anything, and a review is entirely up to you. We build these models for learners, so your feedback guides us: leave a review below and tell us which detail would make the next molecule clearer. Or say hello at https://molgod.org/contact/. The comment section is open for discussion: how did you introduce this molecule, and what did your students notice first? Looking for another compound? We gladly create an engraved 3D model for any CAS number you send us. STL mesh: 325,874 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.
