Sobre este modelo

Chlorophacinone (C23H15ClO3, CAS 3691-35-8) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Element symbols are cut into each atom sphere: a self-labelled teaching aid. Turn the model in your hand to see the shape of Chlorophacinone: four rings (one 5-membered and three 6-membered), with one pair of rings fused along a shared edge, three of them aromatic, and 45 bonds in total (24 single, 3 double and 18 aromatic). Counting task: 23 C + 15 H + 1 Cl + 3 O gives 42 engraved spheres; can the class rebuild the formula C23H15ClO3 from the model alone? Before any theory, let students hunt on the model for the three ketone groups (C=O) and the C-Cl bond. There is one stereocentre in Chlorophacinone; the configuration is not specified in this record, so students can work out what the R and S forms would look like. It makes aromaticity and delocalised electrons, chirality, enantiomers and CIP (R/S) rules, fused ring systems, the carbonyl group (C=O), as well as organohalogen compounds and carbon-halogen bonds easier to see. Free for education: MolGod.org publishes engraved molecular models for teachers, students and schools. Teachers: hand out printed copies and ask students to rebuild the structural formula from the model. STL mesh: 594,382 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.
