Sobre este modelo
This is a simple hood upgrade for the Elegoo Centauri Carbon with the Canvas upgrade installed. It’s a border (frame) that rests on top of the printer, and an IKEA SAMLA 12 gallon box then sits on top of that border. The model is sliced horizontally into a lower layer and an upper layer, with 10 parts in total. Within each layer, the pieces are dovetailed together. The two layers are then joined by 20 printable pins. No glue or hardware is needed. [Splitting it this way lets each piece fit on the print bed.] Why use it? - Adds extra headroom above the printer, which helps with the Canvas upgrade
- Helps keep dust off and holds in some heat and noise
- Uses a cheap, easy-to-find IKEA SAMLA box, so there’s no need to print a large enclosure
- Easy to remove when you need access to the top of the printer
What you need: - Elegoo Centauri Carbon with the Canvas upgrade
- IKEA SAMLA 12 gallon (45 L) box
- 10 printed parts (lower and upper layers)
- 20 printed pins (included in the files)
Printing: - Material: PETG
- Layer height: 0.28 mm
- Infill: 7%
- Parts to print: 10 border pieces plus 20 pins
- Walls: [3]
- Supports: [none / as needed]
- Orientation: [flat on the bed]
- Print time: [32 hours total]
The coarse 0.28 mm layers and low 7% infill keep the print fast and light. The border only has to hold up a plastic storage box, so it doesn’t need to be dense. PETG handles the warmth from the top of the printer well. Assembly: - Print all 10 parts and 20 pins, and clean up any elephant’s foot or stringing.
- Slide the dovetailed pieces of the lower layer together to form the lower frame.
- Do the same for the upper layer.
- Stack the upper layer on the lower layer and press in the 20 pins to lock the two layers together.
- Set the assembled border on top of the printer so it seats around the top edge.
- Place the SAMLA box on the border.
Notes: - Check that the border fits your printer’s top edge before printing the whole thing.
- The dovetail and pin fits have tolerances included, but final fit will depend on your printer’s tolerances.
- Offsetting the dovetail seams between the lower and upper layers makes the assembled frame stiffer.
- This is an unofficial community mod. It is not affiliated with Elegoo or IKEA
