Sobre este modelo

Butyl Acetate (C6H12O2, CAS 123-86-4) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Every atom carries its engraved element symbol, so no colour key is needed. Most printable molecule files rely on colour coding, yet the STL format carries no colour and a single-filament print loses it entirely. MolGod models carry the chemical symbol on every ball as an engraving, which survives slicing, printing and handling. Our goal is to let students understand on their own how the atoms are arranged, how they are bonded and what the 3D geometry looks like, straight from the model in their hands. No CAD skills are needed on the teacher's side; the structure, geometry and labels come ready in one file. Read why we engrave the atoms, and which studies inspired the project: The story behind these engraved molecule models. Ask the class whether Butyl Acetate contains a ring. It does not: 20 atoms and 19 bonds (18 single and 1 double) make up an open structure. Quick starter: ask students to count the engraved symbols (6 C + 12 H + 2 O) and check that they add up to 20 atoms and the formula C6H12O2. This molecule gives students these functional groups to identify: ester group (-COO-). Teachers covering the carbonyl group (C=O) will find it a concrete example. Isomerism made physical: line it up with 3-Methylpentanoic acid (CAS 105-43-1) and Diacetone Alcohol (CAS 123-42-2) and let the class describe how the same atoms are put together differently. MolGod.org shares these models for free to make chemistry tangible in the classroom. Teachers: pass the model round at the start of the lesson, before showing any diagram. Print it, hand it round and build a lesson around it. Publishing pictures, materials or remixes of it? Under CC BY-SA 4.0, name "MolGod.org" as the author, link back to the original and to the licence, mark your changes and keep remixes under the same terms. A ready-made attribution is included below. You don't need an account, you don't pay anything, and a review is entirely up to you. Teachers and students, we read every comment. Tell us in a review how the model worked for you and what we could do better for education; for longer feedback write to Ask us for another molecule. Curious about bond angles, isomers or where this compound appears in everyday life? Ask below and let's discuss it together. Looking for another compound? We gladly create an engraved 3D model for any CAS number you send us.
