🥑 Avocado Lamp – Fruit Lamp Collection Meet the Avocado Lamp, another new member of my growing Fruit Lamp Collection! 🥑✨ After the Cherry and Strawberry Lamps, this time I wanted to turn one of the most recognizable fruit shapes into a decorative light — the avocado. The printing process was especially fun, and I’m really happy with the final result. With its textured dark-green skin, lighter inner layer, glowing flesh and separate seed, it looks surprisingly close to a real sliced avocado — especially when the light is turned off.

🥑 Design & Inspiration For this model, I wanted to preserve the characteristic appearance of a freshly cut avocado while keeping the design practical for 3D printing. The different layers of the avocado create a natural transition from the dark outer skin to green and finally to the lighter inner flesh. When illuminated, the inner section produces a beautiful warm glow while the darker outer shell and seed remain more defined, creating a nice contrast. Just like the other members of the Fruit Lamp Collection, the avocado sits inside the familiar milk-splash inspired base, keeping the same playful design language throughout the series.

🎨 AMS-Friendly Color Printing One of my favorite details of this model is how easily the avocado colors can be printed with an AMS or other multi-color system. The green and yellowish-white inner color sections are designed with a thickness of only around 1 mm. This means the color transition requires relatively few filament changes compared with printing the entire body in multiple colors. As a result, you can achieve the characteristic avocado appearance without creating excessive filament waste or significantly increasing the printing time.

🖨️ Recommended Filaments For my print, I used: PLA Matte PLA HS (High Speed)

I’m very happy with the result from this combination. PLA Matte works particularly well for emphasizing the organic, slightly textured appearance of the avocado, while PLA HS provides a clean print and works nicely for the illuminated sections. Of course, different shades of green can completely change the final appearance, so feel free to experiment with your own combinations. 🥑

🟤 Separate Avocado Seed The avocado seed is printed as a separate piece. This makes it much easier to print it in its natural brown color without additional filament changes. Once printed, simply position it in the center of the avocado and secure it using a small amount of super glue.

This also keeps the printing process simple while giving the finished model a much more realistic appearance.

💡 LED Kit Compatible Like the previous Fruit Lamps, the Avocado Lamp is designed to work with an LED Kit hidden inside the model. The light passes through the thinner inner section of the avocado, creating a warm ambient glow while highlighting its characteristic shape. It works beautifully as a small ambient lamp, but the model can also be displayed without the LED Kit as a decorative piece.

🧩 Easy Assembly The model is divided into practical parts to make printing and assembly as straightforward as possible. After printing, the avocado body fits together with the milk-splash base, while the separately printed seed can simply be glued into position. The goal is to keep post-processing minimal so you can go almost directly from the print bed to the finished lamp.

🍒🍓🥑 Fruit Lamp Collection The Avocado Lamp continues my growing Fruit Lamp Collection: Cherry 🍒 → Strawberry 🍓 → Avocado 🥑 → more coming soon...

Each model takes inspiration from the natural shape and colors of a different fruit while sharing the same playful milk-splash base and LED lighting concept. I hope you enjoy printing this one as much as I enjoyed designing and printing it! 🥑✨
