Arctic Polar — North Pole Relief Map (600 mm Modular Wall Kit)

Design narrative

This circular north-polar azimuthal equidistant relief places the North Pole at the centre, with Greenland, northern North America, Scandinavia and Siberia surrounding the Arctic Ocean. Elevation and bathymetry are supplied by the NOAA NCEI ETOPO 2022 v1 dataset (60 arc-second grid, public domain). Terrain is grouped into six colour bands (deep ocean basins, continental shelves, coastal land and Greenland's high ice among them) while tile height varies inside each band to show elevation above or depth below sea level. Vertical relief is intentionally exaggerated so the geography reads clearly by eye and by touch.

Printability and kit contents

The assembled disc measures approximately 600 mm across and 46 mm in maximum depth. The model is divided into 503 individually numbered modules arranged as a single-layer voronoi layout for desktop FDM printing. This kit provides the print plates (12 plates covering all parts), per-plate 3MF files, STL parts, a colour manifest, assembly maps, a full-size wall template (A4 and Letter), and supporting documentation including README and START_HERE guidance.

Intended audience

Designed for makers and collectors who value data-driven topographic wall art and a craft-forward assembly process. The modular approach lets you print on common desktop printers and assemble a large, detailed relief for display.

Recommended setup

The original generated kit uses:

15% infill

2 perimeters approximately 1786 g of filament approximately 151–231 hours printing time

The model was generated for a 256 × 256 mm print area.

Scaling

If you scale the STL directly in your slicer, remember that scaling changes not only the width and height but also the thickness of the model.

If you need a significantly different finished size, it is better to generate/remix the model at the required dimensions in Bibizoza rather than simply scaling the STL.
