Airless Tires for 1/10th scale RC vehicles

Credit goes to "LayerOne3D" for the original model I based my design off of. The hub included in the file is just a slightly longer version of the hub he made. Here is the link to his work: https://thangs.com/designer/LayerOne3D/3d-model/RC%2520Airless%2520Tire-103974

Sobre este modelo

Credit goes to "LayerOne3D" for the original model I based my design off of. The hub included in the file is just a slightly longer version of the hub he made. Here is the link to his work: https://thangs.com/designer/LayerOne3D/3d-model/RC%2520Airless%2520Tire-103974 I messed up the model upload, so here is the link to my modified hub. https://thangs.com/mythangs/file/1604638?source=All%20Files

I liked his original model, but I wanted to change the tread pattern and spoke count and stuff like that, so I hopped into Inventor and re-made a better version of the wheel part where I can control every aspect of it relating to the tread and spoke count using an iLogic modification system.

I printed the wheel out of 85A shore hardness TPU on an Elegoo Centauri 2 and the modified hubs out of standard PETG on a Creality Ender 3 v2. Practical testing was done with a Traxxas Rustler. From what I can ascertain, that configuration was roughly 80% as capable from actual rubber tires. They have great grip on dirt and grass and gravel or any other coarse surface, but once I got it onto pavement it had a nasty tendency to lose control at high speed. I have also noticed that the wheel will deform if you leave the RC car sitting on them for a long time, so keep that in mind when storing.

If I find out anything else, I'll write here later if I can remember to do it.
