We’ve been working on our game for many years now, a much larger and more ambitious project that, however, is having a hard time seeing the light of day.
Between our day jobs, Kickstarter campaigns, Patreon releases, commissions, and all the other projects we’re juggling, the road ahead still seems quite long.
In the meantime, though, we’ve experimented with hundreds of different rules, ideas, mechanics, and solutions.
And recently, I asked myself a question:
What if all this material were already enough to create a second game—one that’s much simpler, faster, and more immediate?
So, almost on a whim, I decided to give it a try.
That’s how *A Simple Game* was born.
A small board game created almost instinctively, without the pretense of being a finished product just yet.
And this is where a very important part of the project comes into play: you.
Unfortunately, precisely because it came about this way, I haven’t had the chance to conduct a proper playtest.
But I thought:
Why not do it together with our Patreon and Tribes community?
After all, you already have plenty of our miniatures on your hard drives.
So I decided to do something very simple:
The game will be completely free for our community.
You can use the miniatures you already own, print them out, and try them out on the table.
The game is still in its early stages; there are probably rules to tweak, mechanics to improve, and certainly things that won’t work on the first try.
And that’s exactly the point.
I’d like A Simple Game to grow thanks to your feedback.
By trying it out, discussing it, suggesting changes, and letting me know what works and what doesn’t, we could turn this little experiment into something much more complete.
And, most importantly, you’ll be able to breathe new life into the miniatures you’ve already downloaded, using them not just as models to print and paint, but as actual units within a game.
And yes: for those who own a commercially licensed tier, there may even be the possibility of using the game commercially in the future.
But for now, it’s definitely too early to talk about that!
For now, I just want to know one thing:
What do you think?
Give it a try, let me know what works, what doesn’t, and most importantly, what you’d change.
