Sobre este modelo

3,3'-Dichloro-4,4'-Diaminodiphenylmethane (C13H12Cl2N2, CAS 101-14-4) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Whatever the filament colour, each atom reads clearly thanks to its engraved symbol. At its heart, 3,3'-Dichloro-4,4'-Diaminodiphenylmethane is built around two 6-membered rings, both aromatic. The model shows 30 bonds: 18 single and 12 aromatic, drawn in Kekulé form. Use the engraved letters like a register: call out each element and tick it off until the class reaches 13 C + 12 H + 2 Cl + 2 N (29 atoms altogether). Ask the class to locate the two primary amino groups (-NH2) and the two C-Cl bonds and name each one. It makes aromaticity and delocalised electrons, amines and basicity, as well as organohalogen compounds and carbon-halogen bonds easier to see. Its closest structural relative in the MolGod.org collection is Benzenamine, 2-chloro-4-fluoro- (CAS 2106-02-7); printing them side by side makes a quick compare-and-contrast exercise. MolGod.org publishes its molecular models free of charge for teachers and students. Teachers: use the model for an exit-ticket question on the structure the class has just studied.
