Sobre este modelo

(2H14)Methylcyclohexane (C7H14, CAS 10120-28-2) — a free educational 3D molecular model for teachers and students, by MolGod.org. Instead of colour coding, every sphere carries its engraved element symbol. An STL file stores shape only, never colour, so a printed ball-and-stick model usually gives no clue which sphere is which element. Each atom of a MolGod model is engraved with its element symbol, turning a plain print into a self-explaining teaching object. The project aims to let a student work out the arrangement of atoms, the bonds and the geometry of the molecule independently, without a colour key and without waiting for the teacher. The labelling that would otherwise be done with stickers or paint after printing is already part of the file. Read why we engrave the atoms, and which studies inspired the project: https://molgod.org/engraved-molecular-models/. In (2H14)Methylcyclohexane the ring system sets the overall shape: one 6-membered ring. Altogether 21 bonds hold the model together (all of them single). Quick starter: ask students to count the engraved symbols (7 C + 14 H) and check that they add up to 21 atoms and the formula C7H14. It makes cycloalkanes (saturated carbon rings) and tetrahedral (sp3) carbon easier to see. Same formula, different structure: put it next to Methylcyclohexane (CAS 108-87-2) from the same collection and ask students what changed. Ask the class why this molecule cannot hydrogen-bond to itself: the computed count of donors and acceptors is zero. MolGod.org builds and releases these models at no cost for chemistry teaching. Teachers: use the model for an exit-ticket question on the structure the class has just studied. Download it, print it and use it in your teaching. Publishing pictures, materials or remixes of it? Our service starts from a CAS number: you name the compound, we turn it into an engraved, printable 3D model. STL mesh: 218,704 triangles, closed (watertight) single solid. Coordinates in ångström (STL stores no unit) — scale the model deliberately in your slicer.
